These aren’t your everyday #shoefies, either. Each of Spiegel’s snaps is consistent: In the foreground is a glorious confection (mostly purchased, some homemade) held in his right hand, set against his kicky, complementary footwear down below. From a myriad of two-toned oxfords to tasseled floral loafers and everyday trainers, it’s a true sight to behold. So much so, in fact, that he recently came out with a book (currently only available via Amazon UK) to delight his growing fanbase.

Surprisingly, Spiegel’s never worked in the fashion industry, but his passion for color runs deep, having dabbled as a graphic designer for eight years before changing gears and becoming a pastry chef. “I guess that’s where my keen eye comes from, although I’ve always been obsessed with colors,” Spiegel, who originally hails from Tel Aviv, told Food52.

A self-professed shoe collector (“I have around 200 pairs”), he’s in no danger of running out of props. It does beg the question, however: How does he store all of his fancy footwear in a city dwelling? “I built a special shelf for all of them as they are taking over my apartment,” he admits. Stay tuned for a follow-up on Spiegel’s shoe storage situation…
