One thing I always keep around the house is mezcal. With the oncoming gloom of winter, early sunsets, and cloudy weekends, its nice to have a cocktail with a smoky citrus essence to bring on the sunshine (even if it’s liquid). One of my favorite spots in Brooklyn, Tuffet, serves a wonderful green mezcal concoction called the Green Giant that I never caught the ingredients for. Here’s my take on their refreshing green mescal cocktail. I call it the Village Green.
1 ounce Fidencio Clásico Mezcal
3/4 ounce green Chartreuse
3/4 ounce lime juice

1/2 ounce simple syrup
Boylan classic seltzer
Combine the Chartreuse, lime, mezcal, simple syrup and ice in a shaker and shake until it’s frosty. Strain into a highball glass with some nice ice cubes. Top with seltzer and you’re ready to go.
