Charitable giving has always been important to Food52, and over the years we’ve contributed to various causes as opportunities presented themselves. In 2017, thanks in part to your feedback, we made an effort to more clearly define our approach to charitable giving by focusing on one charity per calendar year. This allows us to really shine a light on the great work one trusted organization is doing as we all come together to support them with community initiatives throughout the year.

Last year, there was a clear consensus for No Kid Hungry, and we were thrilled to show our support for them along with all of you. Together we held bake sales, cheered on our favorite baked goods in a bake-off with a few of our friends, generously gave as a part of our annual Holiday Swap, and more.
This year we’re once again turning to you, our Food52 community, to help us select the organization that will be the focus of our giving in 2018. We asked the Food52 team to submit recommendations for charities that they know and love (and that relate in some way to the work we do here at Food52!). From there, we researched the options to make sure they were up to snuff and narrowed the field down to the four options you’ll see below. All of them have received 4-star ratings on Charity Navigator, an independent charity watchdog organization, so we’d feel comfortable supporting any of them, and asking you to as well. But we need your help to select the one charity we’ll be partnering with this year!

We’ll announce the chosen organization later that week and will look forward to sharing our initial thoughts on this year’s initiatives for supporting them soon thereafter.
