It’s the week of Halloween, and if you’re anything like us, you’ve had your costume sitting on a chair in your room for weeks now, right? More likely, you’re hoping to wake up on Saturday morning with a stroke of genius, whip up a fabulous outfit, and spend the rest of the day dipping into a big bowl of candy. If you’re feeling a little crafty, why not try to make something homemade? (If all else fails, you could always dress up as a slice of pizza, throw on some ears and set off into the evening as Pizza Rat.) We’ve rounded up a few fun food-themed costume ideas to give you some inspiration:

A strategically ribboned pillow makes for a wonderful sushi costume!

There’s always a silly take on the chef’s costume to be found. Our intern Gabi had a great spin on the Muppets classic.

We love costumes that involve easy-to-find materials like balloons. Amanda H. once went as a bunch of grapes, but she cautions that popped grape-balloons end the evening looking like raisins. There’s so many options, though: You could be a bag of gumballs, a bag of M&Ms, a bag of lemon candies… You get the idea!

Do you have a bunch of miscellaneous crafting supplies and no idea what to do with them? Go green, and up-cyle them into the perfect compost costume.

While they’re already famous for their lunches, Amanda’s kids’ costumes are pretty fantastic too! Go as an Arnold Palmer, or, if you’re into the tea theme, toss on a fun wig and go as Earl Grey. Look no further than your front stoop for “tea leaves.”

Speaking of costumes that are food-themed and slightly punny, why not try a Caesar salad? You’re bound to get a few chuckles.

Finally, if you’ve been busy making candy all day rather than thinking about a costume, dress up as a big bowl of it—and stay happily candy-satiated throughout the night.
